Bruyninckx and Lord give date as November 25, 1959, which is unquestionably incorrect as this lineup no longer existed at that point. Lord also acknowledges November 4, 1958 as an option. However, Mosaic boxed set (Mercury sessions) gives date for this session as January 1959.

Despite the "corrections" in Bruyninckx and Lord, the correct title is not "Pieces Of Quincy" but is indeed "Pies of Quincy." The liner notes by Nat Hentoff make this clear - Quincy, Mass. is the location of the Zildjian cymbal factory and cymbals are reportedly known to their makers as "pies."
